Of Arts and Brews: The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® Opens in Ronac Art Center

Monday, February 27, 2012

Wishing you could have a bit of artistry to go with your daily dose of coffee or tea?

Making a very creative debut at Manila’s newest art and retail hub—Ronac Art Center—is gourmet coffee and tea purveyor, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf®.

Again, one of our main goals has always been to make it easier for all Filipinos to have access to the best brews available out there,” explains Walden Chu, President of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf®. “Like in all our other stores, we took very careful consideration before deciding on this new location because we wanted to make sure it will indeed present convenience to all our followers.

The new The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® store opened today, February 27, 2012. It is conveniently located in Ronac Art Center’s ground floor and caters to all sorts of coffee and tea aficionados in the Ortigas-Greenhills area. Staying true to the location's avant-garde nature, the store's design debuts a very interesting new look that's unlike any other in the country.

It’s the perfect partnership,” adds Walden. “For some reason, coffee or tea and art seem very logical. Both exist in the same plane in a way that they both require a great amount of skill and expertise for one to get it right.

As in all of its locations, the new branch offers The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf's® full selection of internationally-acclaimed blends made only from the finest grades of custom roasted Arabica coffee and hand-plucked whole leaf teas sourced only from the most exclusive regions around the world. The store also offers fresh baked goods, sweet treats, and a line of complementary coffee and tea merchandise.

In line with its debut, The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf® branch in Ronac Art Center is holding a special promotion from February 27 to March 4, 2012. During the said period, customers can come to the store between 4:00 to 6:00 PM and purchase any of their favorite beverages for only P100.

Experience Taiwan. Experience Tea 101.

Thursday, February 16, 2012

The Tea 101 experience starts from the heart of Taiwan where the most potent tea leaves grow.  These leaves were handpicked and packaged fresh by capable hands before it was delivered to Tea 101 stores.  The leaves were brewed the traditional way without the aid of metals or machine.  The freshly extracted teas were then mixed with different flavors and sweeteners to make Taiwan’s No.1 Drink.
Tea 101 brings you authentic Taiwanese Bubble Tea topped with imported tapioca pearls, 3Q jelly, nata de coco, red beans or grass jelly.  Flavors range from the bestselling royal milk teas, sweet and filling fruit flavored teas, tangy yakult green teas to plain brewed Taiwan teas for the extra health conscious.  Adventurous spirits could also try Heineken Tea all imported from Taiwan.

Experience the nutritional benefits of tea while enjoying a delicious and satisfying drink.  Share with family and friends for a healthy experience. Experience Taiwan.  Experience Tea 101.
Tea is the product of Camellia sinensis, a plant that grows in tropical and subtropical climates.  The top part of the plant is harvested, dried and eventually packed loose or wrapped in the more popular tea bags.

Using tea as beverage was first recorded in China in 10th Century BC.  It became popular in East Asia at around 200BC.  19th Century international trade caused tea to spread to the rest of the world.
Tea was brought to Taiwan from China in the 18th Century.  It was in the middle to late 19th Century when tea plantations flourished in Taiwan.  Tea became one of the top three exports of Taiwan under the name “Formosa.”

Tea Houses are popular in Taiwan.  Like China and Japan, Taiwanese also observe tea ceremonies.  Most social activities like dinners, business meetings, weddings and funerals are conducted with a cup of tea.  Every household welcomes visitors with a serving of tea.
Bubble Tea was invented in Taiwan during the 1980s.  Some say it was in Taichung while others say Tainan.  Its popularity was fueled by a feature in a Japanese TV show.  Now, Bubble Tea shops prosper not only in Asia but in Europe and America as well.

The first Bubble tea is a concoction made of black tea, tapioca pearls, condensed milk and syrup.  Now, the bubble tea’s assortment of flavors include different fruits (strawberry, blueberry, wintermelon, green apple, passion fruit, grape, lychee, honeydew, banana, avocado and kiwi), yogurt, yakult, Heineken, coffee, chocolate and soy milk as substitute to condensed milk.

Tea 101 Bestsellers:
Tea contains multiple chemicals including flavanoides, amino acids, vitamins (C, E and K), caffeine and polysaccharides.  Tea is believed to boost the immune function of the human body as well as prevent dental carries due to the presence of fluorine.  It is beneficial to the digestive system.  It could normalize blood pressure, prevent heart diseases and diabetes and has germicidal properties.  Tea also contains anti-oxidants that have anti-carcinogenic, anti-mutagenic and anti-tumoric properties.

With all those advantages and practically zero disadvantage, go ahead, drink up and enjoy a cup of bubble tea today!

Seattle’s Best Coffee: Milk Tea and Heart-Shaped Cookies

Monday, February 13, 2012

Milk Tea, is one of the fad drinks now and one of my favorite coffee shop in the metro already has it - Seattle’s Best Coffee. Seattle’s Best Coffee has long been known for making that perfect cup of coffee, that’s why I love them, not just me, my friend S and P, too. It’s smooth, never bitter, and full-bodied brews have satisfied java lovers countless of times wherein P also introduced Seattle’s Best to his Mum and Mum liked it too. That’s why, whenever Mum and Dad have a Senior Citizen or Couples for Christ gatherings, Seattle’s Best is one of the sure venue for their coffee sessions. From their hot cups to their iced and Javakula drinks, each one is meticulously crafted to ensure you get the best flavor in every sip. And since they’ve perfected that through years of experience, Seattle’s Best Coffee decided to try their hand in something that they’ve always had but didn’t really shine the spotlight on – tea. Now, the “best” coffee has exactly your cup of tea in SBC’s Milk Tea.
Seattle's Best Coffee
I was able to try the cold and hot version of the Seattle’s Best Milk Tea. I was overwhelmed of the ice-cold Milk Tea taste; it also comes with a red chewy tapioca pearls that gives a refreshing twist to the usual milk tea. However, I just don’t like the over-sweetness of the hot Milk Tea. I am a hot-tea drinker and I just drink it straight, no sugar-at-all. Hot Milk Tea was a blend of black and green tea infused with the sweetness of caramel, maybe next time I order hot I just asked the barista to lessen or not to add caramel syrup, though. By the way, SBC’s Milk Tea offering is on limited time only, they will be available until March 31, 2012.
Seattle's Best Coffee: Milk Tea with Red Tapioca Pearls
First quarter of the year is really a big bang for Seattle’s Best Coffee because they also offering a sweet Heart-Shaped Cookies for the Valentine Season. There will be 4 variants to choose from and one cookie retails at Php85.00 only. So, it is perfect gift to your loved ones and special someone. I already am planning to buy some for my single-ladies-friend in the office and for some close friends. Hurry to your favorite Seattle’s Best Coffee branch today because these sweet treats are only available until February 21, 2012. There’s a chocolate flavored butter cookie and the classic butter cookie. SBC Valentine Cookie is covered in fondant and carries a different design – Love Cookie, The Red and White Cookie (red), Sexy Heart Cookie (blue) and XOXO Cookie (yellow).
Seattle's Best Coffee: Heart-Shaped Cookies
SBC Valentine Cookies are that little thoughtful presents you give to someone to say thank you or to show you care.

Sumosam’s Samurai Bento is ♥

Tuesday, February 7, 2012

I love Japanese foods! I love tempura, teriyaki, and sushi and maki. Aside from that, eating in a Japanese Restaurant is truly a good treat to me after a hard day of work. It’s been my silent sanctuary and one of my happy places. Oh well, who could resist eating in a place where everything tastes good and what have left was a happy experience and a full tummy.

This could be a late post, but it’s better late than never dearies. Plus, the gastronomic foods I have feast on is really deserves to be posted. Here we go, last January 21, 2012; I was luckily invited to the grand opening of Sumosam Gilmore Branch. To get invited on such foodie event was truly a pleasure to me. As the story goes, Sumosam Greenhills Town Center (Gilmore) Branch is the first “Franchise-own” branch of Sumosam and other than Marvin Agustin who I know owns numerous restaurants all-over the metro and some places in the Philippines, this franchise branch of Sumosam in Greenhills Town Center is owned by Ms. Angel Pelayo-Ty.

Furthermore, during the grand opening of Sumosam Greenhills Town Center Branch was also a majestic launched of Samurai Bento. A Samurai Bento’s choice-chicken teriyaki, beef misono (us beef knuckle), dory tepan, tuna and salmon sashimi, kani stick, bean sprout, yasai itame, gohan, and dilis, all of this for only Php 488.00.

I like and love how fresh the tuna was. It’s my first time to eat a raw tuna and only Sumosam did not fail me to eat some more. Well, I guess, it is one of the foods I would surely order when I get back to any Sumosam Restaurant.
Tuna
The drinks other than soda and traditional iced tea, they have the Green and Red Tea, which also so refreshing and with an awesome taste.
Red and Green Tea
They also served sinful cupcakes for dessert.
Moreover, since the Sumosam have the great Japanese foods in town, they also have a serene a relaxing ambiance. The interior design was awesome, that makes you stay longer and longer and longer. It feels like home.
Photo ops with Marvin Agustin and the huggable Sumosam's Mascot with fellow bloggers.
So that’s it! I am now craving for Samurai Bento after writing this post! I am looking forward to my next visit at Sumosam Greenhills Town Center this weekend. In addition, the places is not crowded which I always look forward on every restaurant that I visited to dine-in. And since its love month, it also one of the best places to have a mushy talks over your loved ones. ツ
